Since I maintain forks of software as well as some of my own, I decided to create a Gentoo overlay so that you can install my dotfiles and software using
As of now, this requires
layman. This can be installed using
portage as well.
An overlay is pretty much a third party Gentoo repository with other ebuilds not normally found in the regular Gentoo repositories. Often it's the only way to install software other than compiling from source yourself.
See 'Ebuild list' further down this page.
Gentoo is the only distro I've tested this on. It might work on other Gentoo based distributions that use the
portage package manager but it will NOT work on Arch, Debian or other distros that are not Gentoo based.
emerge app-portage/layman and run the command below:
To add my overlay:
layman -o https://speedie.gq/overlay.xml -f -a splay
This Gentoo overlay currently has the following ebuilds available:
x11-wm/dwm-spde- My build of dwm
x11-misc/dmenu-spde- My build of dmenu
x11-misc/xshbar- xshbar status bar
x11-terms/st-spde- My build of st
net-misc/iron- iron JSON based rautafarmi client
net-misc/rchat- rchat rautafarmi client
x11-libs/libXft- Patched version of libXft called libXft-bgra which does not crash when a colored emoji is displayed.
